Slime Rancher 2's release is on the horizon. I'm very late with this review so long after the game's release and my first playing it in 2017, I just got back into playing and realised I hadn't written a review yet. Then a very short note on the graphics, art-style, music & (ambient) sounds, nomenclature, and overall game-specific features. The freedom you have makes for a very versatile game, yet without it becoming overly complex. You can, at any point, choose to pursue your long-term future goals, explore crazy new lands (not always without danger.), or just take care of tasks close at hand in the same way you've done before (because you're the one that set it up to be done that way in the first place). This is why I like to play Slime Rancher in both good and bad times. Unless you want to tap into your brain juices ofcourse, because if you so choose there is a lot of thinking, decision-making, and planning to be done! The game offers a very fun and balanced experience, because there's enough going on that you can get lost in the process, but just the right amount of repetitiveness so that it doesn't require constant brain power to still do meaningful tasks. it's running a ranch for slimes! You're a farmer at the core, yet the customisation on your farm is truly expansive which makes for a great landscape to let loose your organisational skills! In a way, 'Slime Rancher' is exactly that. It's great when times are good as well :) Ofcourse, that doesn't mean I don't enjoy it in quiet times. It's a comforting way to pass the time when all you need is something positive to focus on, without it being too heavy on the brain (because you want something chill), nor too light (because then it wouldn't provide proper distraction). Slime Rancher, to me, is a game that provides a nice, gentle distraction in busy times. At the time I bought this game because I saw youtubers play it and it seemed great! Having purchased and played it myself, I am very happy with my decision!
